Diabetes research Can Throw Up Cures And Treatments That Will Eventually Defeat Diabetes


The problem with diabetes is that it is a disease that affects millions of people all over the world, and it is a problem which needs to be well understood and also better treatment needs to be developed to combat its debilitating effects. The other problem is that not much of note is really known about diabetes, which makes it necessary for different organizations to conduct diabetes research and come up with some good answers soon. So, it is a bit of a relief to know that there are many organizations that are devoting their energies and resources into diabetes research in a bid to find the causes, and then be able to proffer feasible solutions for the treatment of the disease.

Research Is Ongoing All Across The World

It is heartening indeed to note that many groups of people as well as organizations are currently involved in diabetes research including the FDA, Juvenile Diabetes research Foundation, the Diabetes Action Research and Education Foundation (DAREF), the Diabetes research Foundation, the Diabetes research Institute as also the Diabetes research and Wellness Foundation, to name a few that are involved in finding out more about diabetes. In fact, such groups and organizations are spread all over the world and various different types of diabetes research are being conducted by them.

There is research of some note on the topic that is being conducted for the development of vaccinations to combat the autoimmune response that results in type 1 diabetes, and animals are being tested on for this purpose. There is also diabetes research being conducted to further genetic engineering which aim at making the liver is able to produce insulin. Another area in which such research is being conducted is creation of stem cells that are the elementary building blocks of the human body having an ability to develop into different types of cells. Thus, if these researchers succeed in their mission, we could see use of stem cells that will create cells that will in turn produce insulin and thus help replace the damaged cells.

Other areas on which such research is being conducted include immunoassay for type 1 diabetes, studying what the effects of exercise training have on people affected by diabetes, and many more in that will hopefully help cure this dreaded disease.

There is also diabetes research being conducted on using cinnamon to bring down blood sugar levels. One of the reasons why cinnamon can be helpful for diabetics is that it constrains enzymes that are in some way responsible for the body becoming resistant to insulin.

Further research is also being conducted on being able to deliver insulin to the body through inhalation, which if it is successful, would be of great help to children since they would not have to be injected with needles as is the practice today. Thus, there is reason to be optimistic that the diabetes research that is ongoing today will be able to throw up some vital clues and also lead to better treatment methods to combat and defeat diabetes eventually.
